A political Statement: Together we stand for humanity, diversity and science!

We, the team at this medical practice, want to take a clear political stand :

We support open, inclusive and science-based healthcare for all!

The current political developments in Europe and worldwide are a big worry for us. The far-right is becoming more powerful – and this is happening in Austria too. But the effect of these ideas on the healthcare system is not just theoretical; it is real and, in some cases, already very bad: 

• In the United States, funding for medical research into the health of transgender individuals and HIV has been significantly reduced under the administrations of right-wing conservative governments. This has had a detrimental effect on the prevention, education and care of transgender individuals.

• In Hungary, doctors have been legally prohibited from carrying out gender-affirming treatments – a direct political interference in medical autonomy and a massive attack on the rights of trans* people. 

A similar threat is also posed to Austria by the potential gain in influence by far-right political factions. Hostility towards science, restrictions on freedom of treatment and the exclusion of entire sections of the population have no place in a just and humane medical profession.

We therefore categorically reject any form of right-wing extremism!

We are committed to providing treatment in accordance with scientific standards, respecting human dignity, and ensuring access to medical care for all individuals, irrespective of their background, gender, identity, political views, religion or sexual orientation.

It is imperative that medical treatment never becomes a pawn in the hands of political ideologies.
